When the computer or network device is turned off, the corresponding ports of traditional switches still consume large amounts of power. TL-SG1024D can automatically detect the link status of each port and reduce the power consumption of unused ports.
Power budget based on cable length
Ideally, shorter cables use less power because of less energy degradation throughout their length. This is not the case with most devices. This is because the same amount of power is used throughout the cable. Whether the length is 10 or 50 meters (32.8 or 164.0 feet), the TL-SG1024D analyzes the length of connected Ethernet cables and optimizes power consumption instead of maintaining power consumption in conventional solutions.
